I'm too old for this shit.

zomg, oulipio.social is back! Was afraid it was lost for good. Thanks @mus, assuming that was you.

I don't do oulipo.social so much nowadays, glad to spot familiar folks still using it, and also unfamiliar folks arriving.

Why did I not find out about Anglish until today? Did you guys all know about this? anglish.wikia.com

"Twilight Span" script culmination:

*about to board ship to 15th c.*
"No, wait! That Voynich manuscript-- it's a cookbook!"
*struggling, thrown aboard*

@ojahnn Just had a look at a bunch of folks' Voynich writings - I'm put in mind of all that '70s "Chariots of Gods" stuff.

@ojahnn I'm tilting towards cranky. My suspicion is you'll probably tilt similarly?

Happy holy day of Jibra'il substituting a ram for Ibrahim's son during his sacrificial ritual.

I think بيروت is actually Arabic-oulipo-compliant (no alif). Don't fully grok how diacritics / missing symbols work though. Can anybody confirm?

I grant that Arabic writing probably isn't fully compliant with oulipo's spirit. Sorry about that.

I'm abroad again. Sadly my location is not oulipo compliant in British but it's ok in its original form: بيروت

@MrButton nah, that's too much work. I go for a shampoo with an okay aroma, don't know what's in it

Possibly this has implications for oulipo.social? In a way I think it'd rock if crazy bigots couldn't go on big social forums and had to word all fanatical thoughts lipogrammatically theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/j

Not historically a big fan of that Thankful Nonliving band but in a way, got to applaud that stubborn, drawn-out pursuit of magical instants.

@MrButton Doing statistics on writing is totally my thing, btw. Anyway, I don't think that manuscript holds any dark unknown truths... it's just a thing a guy or girl did for fun. Occult manuscripts had a sort of boom around that point, so its origin could flow from a human wanting to grow rich from fabricating touristy attractions.

@MrButton Thought 1: It looks good! Liza Daly did a sort of riff on it in 2014's National Book Programming Month: oulipo.link/TilYn6
Thought 2: I think it was art to start with, but possibly with a basis in actual writing. But hard to say for a historical span without writing standardization!

Am working in Bangkok for a bit. Sadly scant opportunity to visit much of Thailand so far. Possibly on Saturday or Sunday.
