i had to ask a librarian if as NYU faculty i can borrow books from our library. ("obviously!" you say, but not totally: adjuncts can't and i was just an adjunct for many moons) anyway this librarian said "yup!" and now i am on my way to borrow math and linguistics and writing books to add to my bibliography ๐Ÿ˜Ž ๐Ÿ“š

@aparrish Adjuncts couldn't borrow books from NYU's library? That's totally unfair!

@Td @aparrish this kind of thing is why i won't work for that kind of library again. four solar turns working with awful librarians' "sorry, not my difficulty" or "gosh, that sucks" as sum total of aid to all non-faculty

@aparrish Congrats! I was also on a book hunt today, but didn't know how to find a publication that will support this tiny, throwaway fact that I'm still lacking proof for. I might just wait for my advisor to show up, and ask for tips...

@aparrish Adjuncts can't borrow books? That's draconian by my standards -- you can borrow from UW if all you do is marry a guy or gal on staff.

@sculpin I also think it's a no-good policy, but it is what I was told. ๐Ÿคท
