Instantiation policy discussion topic: boosts of non-oulipo-compliant toots from global instantiations. I think I could automatically prohibit that; should I try?

I'm not saying I want to! Just tossing it out for community discussion.

@rjl20 I’m okay with status quo- I got much admiration for any who try to stay on oulipo as main, as I did fail to do. And if this is your main, you might want to boost a non-compliant post now and again.

If an oulipo account was to do that kind of thing a lot, I would turn off “look at boosts” for that account, or just block it.

@ranjit Oh, I forgot you could turn off boosts for individual accounts! Amaroq is missing that option, but it honors it if you turn it on from a browsing window. Good to know.

@rjl20 I think you should. I find it distracting and jarring

@rjl20 I'm torn. I'm turning off boosts from folks who post noncompliant stuff, but now I miss stuff. I wish a noncompliant boost was a link, is what I wish.

@rjl20 If all boosts had to comply with Oulipo, might/would occur as a thing

@nv @sculpin @rjl20 this is a good compromising way - not blocking but adding a touch of padding so TL is kind of compliant. blocking is too draconic imo. or at minimum not original spirit of this instantiation as i grasp it.

@nv @sculpin @rjl20 i linkifying only noncompliant toots allows for Found oulipo as cam said. & also if i boost a good toot but it actually had a bad glyph but i didn't catch it .... linkifying can guard my oulipo honor scoring.

@rjl20 I do non-compliant boosts, and I think I stand out for that. Not as many as I might - it's kinda bad form? Happy that folks would block my boosts - also happy if you block boosts across this instantiation.

@v21 @rjl20 i'm also known to boost non-compliant toots; i didn't know it was thought of so poorly. i can stop doing it but @wikisext is just such a good bot, y'all.

@kit @v21 I don't know that it is thought of poorly! I just saw it as possibly a violation of this spot's spirit this morning and thought I'd ask.

@rjl20 @kit @v21 @nv @sculpin how about voluntary custom laid out in FAQ or Social Contract: it's ok to link to non-compliant toots with a CW, just don't boost such things in this spot. A programming solution is possibly not vital
